THIS is the place to talk about Nethack mods. I just got the source code to compile (Trickier than it sounds) and you should probably look out for some mods in the future.

figured out how to increase the proportion of wands generated relative to the other items, now I just have to figure out how to generate more items.

EDIT: I just made WandHack. I increased the proportion of wands, and increased the number of randomly generated items, significantly. I am now standing in a room that randomed 5 wands, 2 scrolls, 2 comestibles, and a potion.

EDIT: this is actually really hard. Every monster I meet has a wand.

So it's a patch where gnomes with wands of death are even more of a danger? That sounds like it could be interesting, by which I mean deadly.

Maybe you could make new types of wands, too. Coding a completely new effect is tricky with NetHack's code, but I seem to recall that repurposing an existing one is a lot easier. There could be wands of confuse monster, levitation, life saving, and so on.

It's interesting, but I made too many items. All of my inventory slots get used up so fast.

The original code calls for a dungeon room to be populated with an item 1/3 of the time, with a 1/5 chance for each additional item. I turned it around and made it so that the first item has a 2/3 chance of appearing, and a 4/5 chance for additional items. My code makes it so that, when a room has items, it really has items.

One thing I've had in mind, for a long time, is a spell called Rock Storm. It's a spell that takes rocks in your inventory and basically throws them at the opponent.
