I am all for this idea. I play clarinet. Since it will be difficult to keep everyone at a single tempo, I think we'll also need a sound professional who can adjust times and whatnot.

Now, start volunteering!

I'm only on my third flute lesson, so, we may not be getting to the part where we can actually do this. But as a long term plan I am all for it.

Also, I'm moving/cross-posting this to the main forums.

I think it makes more sense in the Pleasure Cruise & Recipe Barn forum.

If someone could get me a bassoon, I'd be in. I know how to play but don't have one. Also, if anyone needs a clarinet, I own one but don't know how to play it.

That's it, we're taking this to the Radiation Station.

I play the violin...

(Pretty well, actually.)

I've actually got one too!

I play piano and cello pretty well. If I can figure out what my brother did with my microphone, I might be able to contribute.

Also, we should just use metronomes. With accurate metronomes, we should be able to stay at the same tempo.

I can play the Alto Saxaphone pretty well. I have an electronic metronome that should be pretty accurate.

Great, let's get started. We need a free and easily-obtained piece.

I can write something on Finale (Notepad is free to download) and send it via email or post it somewhere. Sounds like it will be orchestrated for the following instruments:

1 cello
4 pianos
1 clarinet
1 flute (easy)
1 violin
1 alto sax
and possibly:
1 bassoon
2 trombones
1 guitar

Any corrections? Suggestions?

N.B.: Updated as more instruments are made available

Someone should create a Wiki for the orchestra@home project. I'm too lazy to, so instead I will simply instruct you to go to:
http://www.pbwiki.com

Since my ultra-cheap (read: free) music-composing software only allows for up to 8 staffs, I will only score 1 piano part for now, so Spider will be the only pianist for our first song. I will just play the cello.

Also I am writing our song in g minor, in 12/8. If I decide on a certain speed (in BPM) I will alert you all.

I am in posession of a trombone, as well as a moderate amount of trombone-playing ability. Tentatively interested in contributing.

I hereby add myself to the list of piano players, and am presently learning how to play the guitar. Which is not really an orchestral instrument, but is rather nifty.

I play the piano, but not with fluency.

I don't like Finale Notepad, but for free software it's about as good as they come. I actually wrote part of a pretty good piano piece in Finale. But I never finished it.

I just learned today that trombonists play in 4 different clefs.
And here I thought cello was bad with 3 different clefs.

Well, I'm new here, but Ushanka directed me here. I love the idea of a "distributed orchestra," so I'm starting one, and I've already got volunteers on Nerd Paradise. If you're serious about doing this, let me know, and I'll send you a part for the piece we're using.

Also, I play the clarinet.

I'm serious, but I don't want to create an account at nerd paradise. And I should only play a one-handed part, but send me both hands in case I can practice.

Guys.

http://www.youtube.com/symphony

Apparently they think they're the first to do this.
