Also, was the piece playing Ally Cs used to prove a previous theorem? (Or perhaps that's Ally Caesium?) She looks a little pink to be from Go to me, chen, so my money's on a mancala set. Or maybe Moods! but I think those pieces are translucent.

Even if Ally Cs is played by a go stone this does not in fact imply that she is a go stone.

That statement gives an entirely different meaning to the second part of his question.

I've got a question for Lewis: How come all of the characters say "pleased to net your acquaintance" when meeting each other for the first time? Isn't it weird that every single character that is introduced to the strip does that, without prior knowledge of what the other characters said?

Also, are Ben and Lewis notified whenever someone types Ben or Lewis?

It's a common figure of speech.

All of the characters who say that are in the presence of the last character to say it, but not speaking to that character.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Ben, that question was directed to me.

I will explain the real world origin of the expression in my comments for friday. In the Terror Island-verse, Ben is correct, it is a common expression to use when you acquire a new acquaintance.

When you "net" a new one, so to speak.

Well, yeah, but you'd think that if they didn't know any other characters in the TI-verse, they wouldn't all know to say "pleased to net your acquaintance." Different people say different things, like "nice to meet you" or "Hello."

Keep in mind you are only seeing a sampling of people meeting each other. It isn't required that everyone always gets introduced this way.

Also, there is only one expression used in TI when people meet. it is "pleased to net your acquaintance."

war is peace
love is hate
chocolate is vanilla.

So...um...what's with the Big Brother slogan-manipulation?

Where does one obtain tiny, tiny neckties that fit on chessmen?

I think he created one out of ribbon, but I can't be certain.

Yeah, it's made out of ribbon. They probably make neckties that size for dolls and such, but I couldn't find one.

Here's a question a friend of mine asked:

Suppose that I want to work for Terror Island. Where can I find a job application?

That probably depends on whether your friend is imaginary, and wants an imaginary job, or not.

No, everything in question is real. When he asked what I was doing, I told him that I was going to the Terror Island forums, and he thought I said "forms" and took it to mean that I was applying for a job here. It's a reasonable assumption that a comic so great as TI would have several people on staff.

We don't have the budget to offer a real job, but if he's willing to work for free, we could probably come up with something. Where does he live? Maybe he could be part of a "street team."

That's pretty sharp of you to notice.

He lives in Berkeley right now. Actually, he's my roommate.
Isn't "street teaming" just telling people about the strip? I already do that.

Yes, only if it was your job, you would not be paid to still do it.

Now that Terror Island has been defunct for years, any chance Ben will finally come clean and just admit that he didn't have a particular anagram in mind when he said that?

.....or, better yet, that he DID have an anagram in mind, and he'll now tell us what it was?

It was intended to be an anagram of "Ron, read this webcomic," but Lewis messed up some of the letters when he registered the domain.

I have, but I would hardly expect Mr. Weasley to be able to read a webcomic, seeing as he's fictional and all.
