What sorts of things are going to be happening at this event? Also, how long will it last? One of my friends has a senior recital at 2:30 this Sunday, and I'd sortof like to go. Also, I broke my ankle two weeks ago, so I can't bike, which means I would need a ride, but I'm on Stanford campus so it shouldn't be too out of the way...

It occurs to me that if we hold the convention at Stanford instead, one of the events could involve a tour of locations that were used in the strip for the moon storyline.

Hey I am trying to think of a way that I can contribute to this from Minnesota without being available at all while it is occurring, and also without having any free time between then and now.

I'm kind of tempted to go but I'm pretty sure that you won't actually be having it.

Here's a tentative events listing for TeIsFanCon:

  • Q&A with Ben Heaton and Lewis Powell
  • Terror Island trivia contest
  • Guest appearance by Blue Tiddlywink
  • Panel discussions including "Behind the scenes at CotEU," "Comic Arts Conference: The Narrative of Poise," and "Who would win in a fight between The Green Grocer and Darth Vader?"
  • Walk around campus aimlessly
  • And many more!

Well, given the broken ankle, I probably won't be doing much wandering, unless you happen to own a golf cart/other means of transportation in which I can sit (cars don't count since you can't actually get around campus in them). I would be up for attempting to play all the games the characters come from, though. Well, maybe not all of them, but definitely Settlers and Clue, which are the only ones I have. And Scrabble, which I may have lost...

Lewis might have a golf cart. I'll ask him tomorrow.

You should record a video of the convention, that way those of us who live on the other side of the country can see what happens.

Maybe there'll be an East Coast TerrIslanFCon at some point.

What about those of us who are on a different continent?
I agree with william about the desirability of a video recording.

I suppose I could try to come in spirit like Unwinder... do I just need to hide in a bottle of vodka and hope it gets delivered to the right place?

Aw, man. First Buttersafe Expo and now this. Man, why do you all have to live in the Bay Area? Your incredible cons are all just a teensy bit out of my reach. Though I could go if I really felt like driving eight hours....

TIFCon 2008 update: The convention will be meeting at Stanford instead. Probably at or around Tresidder. Remember, Sunday afternoon. Attendance may be limited, so don't be late! See forum for details.

According to Google Maps, you'll be .2 miles from where I live. Which sounds really close, until you think about walking there on crutches. Also, they put Tresidder in the wrong place and it's actually a tiny bit farther.

I think "at or around Tresidder" can accommodate being at a .2-mile distance from it.
