Could it really be true?
Is this really it?

Is Bartleby back?

Every time I see Bartleby, I love him even more.

You mean, is Aorist back. Bartleby never really left.

Dang. I'm pretty sure Aorist was going to win that game of Twister, too.

Or Did He?

(answer, yes. he had to leave in order to change the fuse.)

Agreed. This is clearly a victory for the Aoristocrats and FRADD.

Yep, I'm officially going to break my exactly-1000 post count in order to celebrate the return of Aorist.

And the new forum version.

In case you're wondering, that's why I haven't been posting much lately. I hadn't even noticed until it was pointed out in the speech-bubble-borders thread, at which point I decided to keep it there for a while (I didn't notice the thread talking about my post count until later, which almost made me break my post count in order to express gratitude to Ben for his kind words).

Anyway, about the actual strip--I need to start remembering that when the strip numbers are in the 90's and the characters are stuck in some sort of a dilemma, our favorite Scrabble-piece-ex-machina will save them. It catches me off guard every time.

I suppose Aorist's return could somehow be retconned, but that would disappoint me greatly. Especially since both of Bartleby's other appearances have affected canon without being retconned.

Try to imagine Pokey the Penguin saying my previous line.

I suppose the real question now is, Why did the fuse blow?

http://www.terrorisland.net/strips/286.html is the first strip in darkness, but it makes no reference to, say, playing with paper clips and electrical sockets, so I do not suppose that it was caused by one of the characters.

I believe that it was because the apartment was wired faulty, or that someone was using some geranium diodes where they shouldn't have.

Using diodes made from flowers is generally a bad idea.
