So, I'm interested in finding out how people found out about Terror Island. I can look at referrer logs and see where people are clicking from, but that's not exactly the info I'm after.

Let's say you heard someone talking about it, and then, later, were reminded of it by the ad we have on Starslip.com, so that's how you got here. My referrer logs don't tell me about you overhearing that discussion.

Not like anyone is talking about the comic, it was just an example from the fiction of my imagination.

Edit: Ignore this paragraph, spam posting was too bad, so guest posting has been turned off. Feel free to complain at me about it by e-mail or whatever.
Also, lurkers (and I imagine there are some), guest posting is enabled at present, so, you should post here even if you don't really want to register an account or whatever.

Basically, I want information to help me figure out how to expand our readership. Also, tell your narrative however you want. If you want to start with the time you were in junior high and the other kids in gym class made fun of you for sitting off to the side talking about dungeons and dragons, because thats an important part of how you got to a point in your life where you were ready for Terror Islandy goodness, go for it. I'll listen. Or, read, rather.

Obdormio, who, despite his dubious tastes in geographical formations what regards islands when occuring in multitude, is a guy whose taste I put rather highly, linked it in his weblog, along with a bunch of others. Unline most of the others he linked, it was newly started, so giving it a chance didn't take an entire afternoon's worth of reading, and this combined with a cool title enticed me into reading the first three strips or so of it.

I liked what I saw, and continued reading it as it got updated and, well, voilà, here I am, posting this post, a post of such extensive amounts of meaningless trivia I would've sworn it was megalomanical, self-absorbed spam if one of the board admins hadn't explictedly ASKED me to post it.

I saw your announcement on the BLC forums.

My story was boring.

Once upon a time I was bored, so I googled "Fantonald", the Norwegian name for the superhero-persona of Donald Duck (I was ... 11 at the time). The top hit was a forum, where, amongst others, Loki and Obdormio were registered. I quickly befriended Loki and had a secret crush on Obdormio (well, not really, but I need some kind of drama here), so as I grew up I pestered both regularly on MSN. We jump forward a few years: Obdormio mentions your comic to Loki. Loki mentions that Obdormio mentioned the comic to him. I read the comic so that I may impress Obdormio with my knowledge of it and make him love me.

... Well, not really, Obb, you're not so interesting. Sorry.

When did we ever start referring to him as "Ob" with TWO b's? If we're to annoy him, we should do so in style. "Obb" is just plebian.

I've always done it? Count the b's in "Obbe"? Are there one? No. Are there three? No. Also, O.B. sounds like a rapper. And we wouldn't want to make O--

Forget that I said anything. Ofcourse I'll call him Ob.

(Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, people. Just our nature, is all.)

"Our nature". I like that. It almost makes it seem as though our tendency to ruin otherwise fine threads is something positive which we should be respected for.

Nonono. It's like that fable by Aesop, with the scorpion and the animal that can swim and the river. And the scorpion threatens the animal to take him over the river, but in the middle of the stream he kills the animal, and it's like "AAA!!! WHY DID YOU DO THAT YOU'LL DIE YOURSELF!!!" and the scorpion acts all cool and says "It's my nature. dog."

Exactly. As though that's something quite understandable which the toad should respect him for and stop complaining about.

Although your sensure-system is inconvinient, I can do nothing but love it. I deserved it, after all.

It totally ruined your attempt to keep the species of the anonymous animal secret, though.

That is to be expected when I'm trying to act mysteriously. Something unexpected always ruins it. Always. Don't know why I keep trying...

Because it is your nature to do so?

I was here for Timefan before I was here for Terror Island.

But then (one or both of) you mentioned it in a BLC fôrum.

Also, at some point in the past I encountered FOMS, but I no longer remember the circumstances of that.

Not too long ago, at a location very nearby, I was wandering about campus, when suddenly, I fell through a tear in space-time! I'm not quite sure how it happened, really, but when I cam out the other end, I was reading the comic. I found the comic to be interesting, so I continued reading. After a few days of intermittently reading a few at a time, I eventually came to the end, also known as todays comic, so I decided to join the forum, completely ad hoc.

No, really. That's what happened!

Ok, so maybe I was just poking about on the intraweb, with nothing else to do, and I found it. I think it was somehow through StumbleUpon (http://www.stumbleupon.com/), which, if I might add, is truly a great advancement in modern technology. In short, I don't really know.

Same as blicey - the webcomic battle. I thought the first one that you posted was good, and after I saw the second I clicked through and started reading the comic. And after I realized that Terror Island is based on first principles - and how did I miss that, I mean jeez, talk about obvious - I was hooked.

I found this comic yesterday, which was the birthday of Lewis Powell. He had mentioned that it was his birthday at "Truth and Beauty Bombs" and I followed the link from there.

I enjoy it.

Ah, I remember it well. It was a cold winter's day (Well, cold at least. I'm in England, after all) and I seeked out warmth in the comfort of my lovely homestead's studying room, in which a computer resides amongst other things. Here I studied the patterns embedded upon the aforementioned computer, deciding to do what is known as "turning it on". The screen lit up with futuristic joy and soon I found myself on what are known as Ye Bombs of Beauty and Truth, a so-called "forum". Here I was confided in about the current date being a certain member's birthday. This certain member promoted the gamepiece photocomic named "Terror Island", which I proceded to with haste. This comic interested me greatly, and so there I found myself, reading about the shennanigans of Sid and Stephen.

We need to have another scandal. People find them to be entertaining.

Also, howcome* Terror Island isn't listed here?

*should be one word

I'll submit it to them for listing, as soon as I can decide which of their genre categories it falls into. The options are "Furry" and "Non-Furry."
