Since I'm currently visiting DC, I've "sprung ahead" already, but those of you back in Pacific Time (such as Lewis) still have this to look forward to.

As you probably know, this is a very special year for Daylight Saving Time in the United States. Due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, DST now starts on the second Sunday in March, rather than the first Sunday in April. Depending on how well it goes this year, we may or may not be continuing this way.

Here's hoping all of your clocks get changed over smoothly, and that the so-called Y2K7 problem doesn't turn out to be as severe as some have been predicting.

I guess there wasn't a Y2K7 problem after all. I just lost my trust in modern science.

I agree completely. In the fall, you never get enough extra time; in the spring, it's just a pain to readjust.

I kind of like DST, because for one day of the year, you get an excuse for sleeping in an hour early, and for the another day you get to sleep in an hour early with no consequences. Technically that's skewed logic, but I'm hoping Ben won't catch it.

"Sleep in an hour early"? What does that mean? Also, why does the same thing happen on both days?

It's a paradox of time.

More like a paradox of chenjesu not making any sense.

Just because you don't understand how the crystal biology of the chenjesu doesn't mean you need to start making racist comments.

In spring, you can wake up at 9am instead of 8am and go "Sorry, I forgot to put my clock forward, which is why I woke up at 9am (your time) instead of 8am (your time)"; in autumn ('fall'), you get to put the clock back and so get an extra hour of sleep. The reason it's skewed logic is that even if you do use the Spring excuse, you're still only getting as much sleep as you would have if you hadn't put the clock forward.

I was pretty excited about "falling back" last night. Of course, being in London, this is probably old news to you.

Yeah, it was last week. I managed to forget, somehow, but as we were on autumn break it didn't matter.
