The original draft was heavier on the "incorrect chemistry" angle. But then I realized I don't have a copy of the card Oxidize, so I rewrote it.

By the way, I was slightly wrong when talking to you at Bread and Brew the other day. Although palladium is commonly oxidized, the most common oxidation state is +2, not +4; I was thinking of platinum. (Though +4 does happen in some cases.)

Nonetheless, it's commonly found as a metal (oxidation state = 0) and gets oxidized when palladium compounds are formed, such as palladium chloride (PdCl2, oxidation state = +2).

He studies palladium chemistry at a nearby college.

I've never actually used palladium in any of my own research, but have studied it in classes and such. But yes, university, not college. At least I tell myself so I can say that I'm not in college anymore.
